A pair of topological indices, denoted by symbols M1 and M2, that were later called the Zagreb Group indices1 or more often the Zagreb indices2, have been introduced 30 years ago3. The development and uses of Zagreb indices will be presented. First the definitions and properties of these indices will be given. Then the modified, variable and overall Zagreb indices will be discussed. Finally their uses as the complexity indices, chirality indices and applications in structure-property-activity modeling will be described.
